WIRN 2014 - First Call for Papers

24th Italian Workshop on Neural Networks May 15 - 16, Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, Italy

The Italian Workshop on Neural Networks (WIRN) is the annual conference of the Italian Society of Neural Networks (SIREN). The conference is organized, since 1989, in co-operation with the International Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies (IIASS) of Vietri S/M (Italy), and is a traditional event devoted to the discussion of novelties and innovations related to field of Artificial Neural Networks. In recent years, it also became a multidisciplinary forum on psychological and cognitive theories for modelling human behaviours. The 24rd Edition of the Italian Workshop on Neural Networks (WIRN 2014) will be held at the IIASS of Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, Italy.

Open Plenary Lecture: MEMRISTOR: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE, Prof. Chua, University of California at Berkeley (USA)

This year, WIRN 2014 will be held in conjunction with the conference WIVACE 2014 (Italian Workshop on Artificial Life and Evolutionary Computation) (14-15 May); participation to both workshops is strongly encouraged in order to favour the interdisciplinary viewpoint of our communities. It will be possible to attend to both conferences by paying a small additional fee;

Prospective authors are invited to contribute high quality papers in the topic areas listed below and proposals for special sessions. Special sessions aim to bring together researchers in special focused topics. Each special session should include at least 3 contributing papers. A proposal for a special session should include a summary statement (1 page long) describing the motivation and relevance of the proposed special session, together with the article titles and author names of the papers that will be included in the track. The coordinator of the proposal will also be responsible for the reviewing procedure.

Submission Procedure

Submission is a two-stage process. Prospective authors are asked to submit an extended abstract of 2-3 pages by the workshop’s deadline. The submission method is web-based https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wirn2014

Abstracts will be evaluated by the SIREN’s Scientific Committee for appropriateness, technical content, achieved results, originality and novelty. Accepted abstracts will be included in the conference program. Authors of accepted contributions are encouraged to submit an extended version of the paper on-site at the Workshop according to the standard Springer format available on the web page of WIRN 2014 http://www.springer.com/series/8767. The submitted paper will be reviewed by at least two independent referees. The authors will be notified about acceptance/rejection within the end of July. The final version of the paper, which will keep into account the referees’ requests, should be submitted by September 15, 2014. Accepted papers will be published on the Springer Series “Smart Innovation, Systems and Technologies”.

Contributions should be high quality, original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication during the review period. Please see the web site for further details of the required paper format. Authors will be limited to one paper per registration.
